Regional governance updates in Burkina Faso and East African Community

In Burkina Faso, the SCOOP-CA/APEC cooperative has established its governance bodies following regional assemblies across 17 regions. During a general assembly in Ouagadougou, delegates elected a 12-member Board of Directors, led by President Bienvenue Dembélé, and a 5-member Supervisory Board, chaired by Abdoul Karim Ouali. This move allows elected representatives to participate directly in the cooperative's governance.

In Kenya, the East African Community (EAC) held a special meeting of the Council of Ministers in Mombasa to address urgent staffing needs. Burundi participated in the sessions, which focused on recruitment processes and job descriptions. The Council lifted a moratorium on hiring to address a significant vacancy rate, noting that only 276 of 439 planned positions were occupied as of July 2026. The Council also approved the use of an integrated electronic recruitment system to improve transparency and efficiency.
