Regional governments deploy resources to combat drought and flooding
In Cochabamba, Bolivia, the regional government has approved a decree allocating 1.3 million bolivianos to assist municipalities affected by drought. The funds are intended for the immediate procurement of water tanks and the hiring of water cisterns to mitigate losses in livestock and crops. Secretary of Governance José Gonzales noted that the decision was made due to the urgency of the situation, despite the administration facing economic limitations.
In Santa Elena, Ecuador, the government of President Daniel Noboa has delivered 50 motor-driven water pumps to local producers to combat flooding caused by heavy rains. This initiative, managed through the Ministry of Economic and Productive Development and the PIDARA project, aims to help farmers evacuate excess water from agricultural plots to prevent crop loss. This delivery is part of a broader national distribution effort that has provided 974 pieces of equipment to date, representing an investment of over 824,000 USD.
