Regional governments in Indonesia advance new local regulations
Local governments in Makassar and Samarinda are advancing new regional regulations (Ranperda) to address management and revenue issues.
In Makassar, the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) has moved a proposed parking management regulation to a special committee (Pansus). The initiative aims to address public complaints regarding parking attendant behavior and potential revenue leakages. The regulation requires coordination between the Department of Transportation, the local legal department, and the regional parking company to ensure alignment across agencies.
In Samarinda, the DPRD is accelerating the discussion of a tourism regulation designed to boost Regional Original Income (PAD). The upcoming law will provide a legal framework for managing both natural and man-made tourist destinations, including cooperation systems and profit-sharing models. Officials highlighted Bukit Stelling as a key site for potential optimization through community-based management and formal retribution collection.
