Regional health policy developments in Campania and Molise
In Campania, regional councilor Fernando Errico has called on President Roberto Fico to ensure the immediate restoration of 24-hour emergency services at the Sant’Alfonso Maria de’ Liguori hospital in Sant’Agata de’ Goti. This follows a TAR Campania ordinance (n. 5913/2026) that upheld a previous ruling requiring continuous operation of the emergency room. The court noted that current staffing levels do not present an objective impossibility to meeting this requirement. Errico emphasized that the restoration is vital for the Sannio region and inland communities where distance from other hospitals impacts emergency response times.
In Molise, regional councilors Andrea Greco, Angelo Primiani, and Massimo Romano have introduced bill n. 105 to establish a temporary commission to study relationships with accredited private healthcare providers. The eight-member commission is intended to operate for 24 months to examine contracts, healthcare mobility, and the use of public resources. Its objectives include improving service quality, transparency, and the management of waiting lists, while ensuring alignment between healthcare programming, personnel needs, and technological investments such as those funded by the PNRR.
