Regional healthcare cooperation and nursing development initiatives in Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina
Health officials in Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina are focusing on regional cooperation to improve healthcare systems. Jelena Borovinić Bojović, Vice President of the Government for the Health System and Social Welfare, met with Branimir Jukić, the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Montenegro, to discuss strengthening institutional ties and exchanging best practices.
A key component of this cooperation is the two-year European ICARE project, which involves partners from Montenegro, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project aims to enhance preventive healthcare and diagnostics through the procurement of ultrasound, colposcopy, and CTG machines, as well as the development of a digital application to monitor children's psychomotor development.
In the Republic of Srpska, Minister of Health and Social Welfare Alen Šeranić introduced a roadmap for the professional development of nurses and technicians spanning 2026 to 2036. This plan focuses on standardizing quality across primary, secondary, and tertiary care levels. To support this, seven training centers have been established, with the University Clinical Center of the Republic of Srpska serving as a central hub for continuous education and knowledge exchange.
