Regional high school baseball tournaments advance in Shizuoka and Miyazaki

On July 5, the Shizuoka summer high school baseball tournament completed its first round of 21 games, featuring several close matches. Suruga General defeated Hamamatsu Castle North and will meet Shizuoka in the second round. Shizuoka Gakuen edged Oga 5‑4 in extra innings to advance. Numazu East beat Shizuoka Agricultural and is set to face seeded Nihon University Mishima. Iwata South routed Hamamatsu West 10‑1 and will play Hamamatsu Commercial, while Hamana overcame Shimizu West and will meet Tokuhada University Kikumura. Nirayama shut out Numazu Castle North 6‑0 and will face Tokai University Shizuoka Shoyo. Second‑round games are scheduled for July 11‑12, with the final to be held on July 27.

The Miyazaki summer tournament on July 6 saw Miyazaki Minami defeat Monogawa 8‑2, highlighted by early scoring and a strong defensive effort, moving on to face the prefecture’s top school, Enokaga Gakuen. Other first‑round results included Nichinan’s 11‑10 tie‑break win and both Enokaga Gakuen and Hyuga Gakuin securing 5‑0 victories, each advancing to the next round.
