Regional hiking events held in Belgium and the Netherlands

Several regional hiking events have recently taken place in Belgium and the Netherlands. In Balen, Belgium, the inaugural Expeditie Kempen saw more than 70 participants, organized into 26 teams, trekking through the Kempen nature area. The event, initiated by the walking group De Vennenrenners in collaboration with Natuurpunt, covered a total of over 4,000 kilometers across various routes ranging from 8 to 40 kilometers per day.

In Nederweert, the Netherlands, the Wandelvierdaagse organized by Stichting Kindervakantiewerk has commenced. Participants are undertaking four days of walking, with route options of 7 and 10 kilometers. The event features renewed routes and various start locations, including Budschop and Nederweert-Eind. Organizers have advised participants to wear sturdy footwear and reflective clothing due to potential darkness caused by a solar eclipse during the walks.
