Regional holidays and school closures announced in India

Various regions in India have announced public holidays and school closures due to local religious and cultural observances.

In Chhattisgarh, the state government has declared a public holiday on August 12, 2026, for the Hareli festival. This agricultural festival involves the worship of farming tools and livestock. As a result, all government and private schools, colleges, government offices, and banks will remain closed.

In Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, the district administration ordered the closure of all government and private schools on August 10, 2026. This decision was made to accommodate the Sanskar Kanwar Yatra and the Shahi Sawari of Lord Mahadev during the second Monday of the Sawan month. The closure aims to ensure the safety of students and avoid disruptions caused by heavy crowds and significant traffic changes during the religious procession.
