Regional Horticulture Exhibition opens to promote local agricultural values

The 29th Regional Horticulture and Food Industry Exhibition has opened, focusing on the preservation of local values and the economic importance of regional production. János Molnár, State Secretary for Agricultural Affairs, emphasized that local products carry the culture and history of a landscape, serving both economic and cultural purposes.

Molnár highlighted the need to strengthen local production to create jobs and provide opportunities for young people, aiming to prevent them from migrating to other regions for work. He cited the Kecskemét apricot brandy, which holds EU-protected geographical indication status, as an example of a product worth protecting. He suggested expanding such protections to other traditional local products to ensure their long-term viability.

Local mayors from Lajosmizse, Szentkirály, and Nyárlőrinc also participated, discussing regional infrastructure and the necessity of maintaining traditions to provide future opportunities for the next generation.
