Regional infrastructure and institutional updates in Chile and Mexico

In Chile, the Undersecretary of Justice, Luis Silva, inspected the Coronel Provisional Detention and Closed Regime Center (IP-IRC) in the Biobío Region to evaluate progress in juvenile social reintegration and security. Recent administrative adjustments and management changes have contributed to a decrease in critical incidents, which fell from 67 in August to 42 in September. The visit also highlighted a new separation unit involving an investment of approximately 300 million pesos, alongside planned infrastructure works to enhance security and intervention processes.

In Mexico, the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) has completed comprehensive rehabilitation and modernization projects at the “1° de Octubre” Regional Hospital in Mexico City. These upgrades include the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where 285 square meters of flooring, ceilings, and lighting were replaced to improve patient and staff safety. Additionally, the facility’s physical rehabilitation therapeutic tank and kitchen areas underwent significant maintenance and remodeling to benefit over one million beneficiaries.
