Regional infrastructure and security disruptions in Spain and Colombia

In La Guancha, Spain, the People's Party (PP) has called for urgent action following a failed tender for repairs on the El Roque road. The route has been closed since October 2022 due to a large rockslide, cutting off the connection between the urban center and the coastal area. Spokesperson Aarón Mesa suggested that the project must be updated to reflect current market costs and budget requirements to ensure successful future bidding.

In Colombia, violence along the Troncal del Caribe has caused significant economic disruption in the La Guajira region. Following operations against the Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada, which included the burning of public buses and road blockades, tourism and transport sectors reported losses. The Association of Travel Agencies in La Guajira estimated cancellations of nearly 30 percent in areas such as Palomino and Riohacha, while the Barranquilla Terminal saw a reduction in shipments to several key destinations.
