Regional infrastructure projects advance in Germany and Austria

In Germany, the Federal Agency for Real Estate (BImA) has reached a milestone in its housing offensive with the topping-out ceremony for 64 new apartments in Freiburg-Haslach. The project, located on Belchen and Blauen streets, focuses on providing affordable housing for families using sustainable construction methods. The buildings will feature EH 40 efficiency standards, photovoltaic systems, green roofs, and connections to a local heating network. The first units are expected to be occupied in the first quarter of 2027.

In Austria, the second phase of a major flood protection project at Villgratenbach in Heinfels has been completed. The project, costing approximately 9.5 million euros, protects roughly 32 hectares of land and 128 residential and commercial buildings. A central component is a wood and debris barrier capable of retaining up to 50,000 cubic meters of material to prevent dangerous blockages. The initiative is a joint investment by the federal government, the state of Tyrol, and the municipality of Heinfels.
