Regional infrastructure projects announced in Malaysia and Indonesia

Infrastructure development projects are being initiated in Sibu, Malaysia, and Seluma, Indonesia, to improve regional connectivity and traffic flow.

In Sibu, a RM2.34 million project will widen the Jalan Ling Kai Cheng intersection to connect routes to Jalan Ulu Sungai Merah and Teku. The second phase of the project involves widening a 200-meter section at a traffic light intersection. Scheduled to begin in September, the work is expected to take four months. The expansion will increase the intersection to four lanes to reduce congestion and waiting times.

In Seluma, the local government has proposed an IDR 57 billion budget in the 2027 preliminary budget policy to develop access roads in the 4 Ulu Seluma area. The project aims to reduce regional isolation and improve the distribution of agricultural products. Construction is planned to begin in 2027, starting with the route to Lubuk Resam Village, with a target completion date of 2029.
