Regional initiatives in Bad Wurzach and Haslach focus on climate and childcare

In Bad Wurzach, children from local schools and kindergartens presented their collected ‘Green Miles’ to Mayor Florian Schiller during a municipal council meeting. Approximately 352 children from Arnach, Eintürnen, Haidgau, Ziegelbach, and Bad Wurzach participated in a climate protection week, documenting eco-friendly travel such as walking, cycling, or using public transport. These miles will be sent to the Climate Alliance (Klimabündnis), which aggregates European totals to present to the 2026 UN Climate Conference.

In the Haslach region, mayors have signed a ‘Letter of Intent’ to establish intercommunal holiday childcare. This collaboration between five municipalities aims to meet new state legal requirements for all-day holiday care for primary school children starting in the 2026/27 school year. The model involves rotating childcare services across the participating communities to pool resources and ensure high-quality offerings for all eligible children in the region, regardless of their specific municipality of residence.
