Regional initiatives promote community and agriculture in Chiemgau
Various community-driven initiatives are active in the Chiemgau region of Germany, focusing on environmental education, sustainable agriculture, and social networking.
The association Lebensraum Chiemgau e. V. has launched a school project at the Schweinsteiger Alm on Sudelfeld. In collaboration with two schools from Rosenheim—the Staatliche Landwirtschaftsschule and the Umwelttechnische Schule (FOSBOS Rosenheim)—students are engaging in nature and species conservation. Under professional guidance, the youth participate in maintaining alpine meadows and implementing ecological measures to learn about the importance of intact cultural landscapes.
Additionally, the newly formed group 'Junge Landfrauen Chiemgau' held its inaugural event in Traunstein. Led by herb educator Andrea Illguth, the session focused on food preservation and fermentation techniques. Participants practiced making kimchi and soft cheese, utilizing meadow herbs and forest ingredients to promote traditional and healthy food processing methods.
