Regional Italian initiatives promote trail accessibility and environmental education
The Kalabria Trekking association has launched a crowdfunding campaign titled ‘Adotta un passo del Cammino’ to enhance the Kalabria Coast to Coast hiking trail. The initiative aims to raise 5,000 euros within 45 days, with a potential total of 20,000 euros if secondary targets are met. The funds will be used to improve accessibility and digital services, including multilingual audio guides in six languages, QR codes at 30 points of interest, Italian Sign Language (LIS) videos, and updated signage for hikers and e-bikers.
In the Amalfi Coast, the XI edition of the Francesca Mansi Prize for the Environment has been announced for schools. The 2027 theme, ‘Adotta un bene’ (Adopt a good), is dedicated to the memory of environmentalist Gioacchino Di Martino. The program encourages students to select a local environmental, cultural, or social asset—such as a trail, building, or tradition—to document and propose concrete ways to protect or value it, fostering active citizenship and territorial responsibility.
