Regional lawmakers in Peru and Chile demand increased budget allocations

In Peru, Congresswoman Jacqueline Tapullima has announced plans to summon the Minister of Economy and Finance, Elmer Cuba, to address economic disparities in the San Martín region and the broader Amazon. Tapullima is seeking clarity on policies regarding productive inclusion, fiscal decentralization, and budget execution. Her priorities include strengthening micro and small enterprises (MYPE), increasing financial inclusion in rural areas, and reviewing the allocation of resources from the canon and sobrecanon to ensure they support local community development.

In Chile, Deputy Jorge Guzmán of the Evópoli party is demanding specific funding in the 2027 Budget for strategic projects in the Maule region. His requests include financing the remaining 50% required for the reconstruction of the Central Market of Talca, a project that has faced delays for over 16 years, and funding for a new Carabineros training school to bolster regional security and police infrastructure.
