Regional leaders address historical memory in Croatia and Bosnia

In Croatia, President Zoran Milanović met with representatives of the Association of Anti-Fascist Fighters and Anti-Fascists of Koprivnica-Križevci County. The discussion focused on preserving anti-fascist historical heritage and organizing upcoming commemorations, including the anniversary of the founding of the ‘Braća Radić’ brigade and the closure of the Danica concentration camp. Officials emphasized the importance of maintaining historical memory and the involvement of younger members in preserving these values.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić and Federal Minister Nerin Dizdar visited Srebrenica to meet with survivors of the genocide. The visit follows recent public unrest caused by the glorification of Ratko Mladić. Nikšić stated that the genocide is a legally established fact that cannot be altered or diminished by political stances. He emphasized the right of returnees to live with dignity and safety, noting that the struggle for truth by the Mothers of Srebrenica is a collective obligation.
