Regional leaders discuss youth retention and infrastructure

Government officials in Montenegro and Serbia are focusing on measures to encourage young people to remain in their local communities through improved housing and infrastructure.

In Montenegro, Minister of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property Slaven Radunović met with Pljevlja Municipality President Dario Vraneš. To address the shortage of construction plots for young families, the Ministry expressed readiness to initiate the sale of state-owned land parcels. Additionally, the State Planning Agency may take over the development of the Spatial-Urban Plan for Pljevlja to provide professional support for the municipality's development.

In Serbia, Acting Prime Minister Đuro Macut visited the municipalities of Žagubica and Petrovac na Mlavi. Discussions centered on infrastructure projects, such as water supply and sewage networks, and the unification of health facilities into a single health center in Petrovac na Mlavi. Macut emphasized the need to create conditions for young professionals, particularly healthcare workers, to stay in smaller towns by addressing salary corrections and housing solutions through state programs.
