Regional leaders in Spain address housing and urban development

Leaders from Castilla y León and Galicia have called for increased action to address the housing crisis during the III Foro de Ancares in Ponferrada. Alfonso Rueda, President of Galicia, emphasized the need for construction over political rhetoric, stating a goal to expand the public housing stock to 8,000 units and facilitate land development for private promoters.

Guillermo Mañueco, President of Castilla y León, highlighted that his region is currently building more public housing than ever before. He announced a housing savings program for next year aimed at helping young people purchase their first homes. Mañueco also stressed the importance of legal security for property owners to encourage rentals and increase market supply.

In Logroño, Mayor Conrado Escobar concluded the State of the City Debate, an event focused on municipal development. The discussions centered on housing, mobility, sustainability, and economic revitalization, with the local government proposing new measures to improve urban quality of life and long-term sustainability.
