Regional legislative updates address labor rights and investment incentives

In Republika Srpska, the government is preparing legislative changes to protect the rights of women employed on fixed-term contracts. The proposed amendments aim to ensure that women who become pregnant during their employment period receive the same rights as permanent employees, including the right to continue their employment during pregnancy and maternity leave, followed by a transition to permanent employment.

In Croatia, the government has submitted a proposal for the Croatian Investment Account (HRI) to Parliament. This new financial instrument allows citizens to invest in stocks, bonds, and other financial instruments without incurring tax obligations on returns. The initiative seeks to encourage citizens to move savings from low-yield bank deposits into the capital market. Under the proposal, individuals can deposit up to 200,000 euros, with a potential 50,000 euro bonus for long-term investing. The law is expected to take effect on January 1, 2027.
