Regional legislatures urge integrity in upcoming village head elections

Regional legislative bodies in Bantul and Gunungkidul are calling for integrity and active public oversight during the upcoming simultaneous village head elections (Pilur).

In Bantul, DPRD Chairman Hanung Raharjo urged candidates to focus on vision, mission, and work programs rather than relying on black campaigns, money politics, or identity-based issues (SARA). He noted that the registration and candidate determination stages have proceeded orderly and emphasized the importance of field monitoring to ensure objective processes across the 30 villages involved.

In Gunungkidul, DPRD member Gunawan requested that citizens act as active observers to report potential violations. The upcoming elections will cover 31 villages across 16 sub-districts, supported by a budget of Rp2.6 billion. Gunawan highlighted new regulations, including the requirement for village officials to resign upon becoming candidates and provisions for areas with only a single candidate to proceed with the election.
