Regional milestones in Spain: Benicarló Police and local media receive honors

Spanish local news media awards Benicarló social inclusion regional journalism

In Benicarló, the Local Police celebrated the feast of Sant Miquel and marked a significant milestone: 150 years of service, tracing back to the city's first night watchman regulations. The ceremony included an official review of the force, a tribute to retired officers, and the presentation of distinctions to both officers and citizens for exemplary service.

In the media sector, Grupo de Comunicación La COMARCA was honored at the Grupo Social ONCE Aragón 2026 Solidarity Awards. The group received the Communication Project award for its rigorous reporting and commitment to the social and cultural development of the Bajo Aragón Histórico and Cuencas Mineras regions.

Additionally, the editorial group publishing SomGarrigues and SomRurals reported significant achievements. SomGarrigues reached a record 1,000 subscribers, while the SomRurals podcast, Sentències km 0, was awarded an ADR Justice Prize by the Generalitat for its coverage of judicial mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
