Regional museums in Germany launch new history exhibitions
Several regional museums in Germany are launching new exhibitions focused on local history and heritage.
In Eisenhüttenstadt, the Städtisches Museum is opening two concurrent exhibitions on October 17, 2026. Photographer Bernd Geller will present ‘Zeitreise – Vom analogen Bild zur digitalen Datei’, showcasing six decades of the city's evolution from the 1970s to the present. Additionally, the exhibition ‘Handwerk – Werke der Hand’ will feature over one hundred historical and often forgotten crafts.
In Wildeshausen, the Bürger- und Geschichtsverein (BGV) has introduced a mobile pop-up exhibition. Utilizing six sustainable roll-up displays, the showcase explores the town's history from the 9th to the 20th century, covering significant events such as major city fires in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and the local context of the Berlin Wall's construction.
