Regional NEA Rugby concludes first phase with Taraguy defeat

The first phase of the 2026 Regional NEA rugby tournament has concluded following the ninth round of matches. In a significant upset, CURNE defeated the undefeated leader Taraguy with a score of 32-16 in Monte Alto. Despite this loss, Taraguy remains at the top of the standings.

Aranduroga secured second place in the standings after a 66-17 victory over Capri. Meanwhile, Sixty has been relegated to the Ascenso zone following a 20-17 loss to Regatas Resistencia. Capri also moves to the Ascenso zone.

Other notable results include San José de Paraguay defeating San Patricio 32-27, and Curda de Asunción beating Aguará 75-28. The second phase of the tournament will feature Taraguy, Aranduroga, CURNE, San José, San Patricio, Regatas, and Aguará.
