Czechia: Finance Minister reveals results of illegal employment crackdown
Czech Finance Minister Alena Schillerová has presented the results of the ‘Kobra 26’ project, an initiative launched in March to combat illegal employment and tax evasion. The project aims to recover funds lost to shadow economy practices, which the Supreme Audit Office estimates cost the state approximately 23 billion CZK annually.
One notable case revealed involved a company that reported over one hundred employees and monthly turnovers exceeding one million CZK, despite its managing director having been deceased for five years.
Other regional developments in the Czech Republic include eighty-three students from the Plzeň region participating in a study program in China related to the WorldSkills 2026 championship in Shanghai. Additionally, a debate regarding spirituality and religion in metropolitan areas is scheduled to take place in Prague on October 8.
