Congo and Russia hold talks in Brazzaville on 2026-2028 cooperation

Experts from the Republic of the Congo and the Russian Federation have convened in Brazzaville for the technical phase of the 8th session of the Intergovernmental Mixed Commission. The meeting aims to evaluate previous commitments and establish new cooperation frameworks for the 2026-2028 period.

Key strategic sectors under discussion include energy and hydrocarbons, defense and security, higher education, research, and training. The delegations, led by Siméon Ewongo for Congo and Renat Aglioullin for Russia, are working to strengthen the bilateral legal framework and propose specific dossiers for ministerial validation scheduled for September 30.

These preparatory works serve as a precursor to the upcoming Russia-Africa summit in October. The discussions focus on securing investments, promoting public-private partnerships, and enhancing technical skills and academic mobility between the two nations.
