Regional policy initiatives focus on women's employment and gender equality in South Korea
Various regional initiatives in South Korea are targeting women's economic participation and gender equality. In the Jeonnam-Gwangju integration era, a policy forum is scheduled for the 27th to discuss linking regional industries—such as AI, energy, bio, and manufacturing—with women's employment. The forum aims to address career breaks, expand youth female employment, and create female-friendly working environments.
Additionally, Dong-gu has been designated as a ‘2026 Women-Friendly City’ for the fourth consecutive time by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. This designation recognizes the district's efforts in promoting gender equality through policies involving jobs, safety, and childcare. Dong-gu has implemented measures such as maintaining high ratios of female civil servants in management, establishing gender-sensitive statistics, and operating safety zones and job consultative bodies.
