Regional political and security issues emerge in Lugo and Cantabria
Various regional political and social issues are being addressed in Galicia and Cantabria. In Lugo, the BNG party is calling for the resumption and expansion of a 'taxi on demand' project for rural parishes. The initiative, which allows residents in areas without urban bus service to book taxis at bus-equivalent prices, was previously halted following a motion of censure. The party intends to propose a motion to extend the service to six additional parishes.
In Cantabria, the regional Parliament is scheduled to debate several topics, including pensions, immigration, and the 'Bosques de Santander' project. Opposition groups are expected to raise questions regarding school transport, housing for youth, and industrial production indices. Additionally, the PSOE will address labor conditions at Hospital Santa Clotilde.
Meanwhile, the Spanish Association of Civil Guards (AEGC) is demanding more personnel and a territorial reorganization in Lugo and Galicia. The association warns that current staffing shortages and large service areas, such as a single patrol covering multiple municipalities like Mondoñedo and Ribadeo, can delay response times during simultaneous incidents.
