Latin American governments advance social housing and land titling
Various government-led housing initiatives across Latin America are advancing property rights and social housing access. In Argentina, the Instituto Provincial Autárquico de Vivienda (IPAV) formalized ownership for ten families in Santa Rosa through the delivery of property deeds. In the province of Buenos Aires, authorities in 9 de Julio are working to regularize land titles for 180 families in the Ciudad Nueva neighborhood via the Plan Familia Propietaria. Similarly, in Neuquén, 45 families received deeds or purchase agreements to secure their land.
In Colombia, 19 families in Rionegro received keys to new priority interest housing (VIP) in the Cerros de la Fortuna project, a collaborative effort involving municipal, departmental, and private resources. In Chile, the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism (Minvu) completed the Villa Esperanza project in Puerto Octay, delivering 237 high-quality homes to local families.
In the Dominican Republic, special presidential projects have provided newly constructed homes to families in Samaná. Additionally, in San Vicente, a municipal program has begun field surveys in the Moroni neighborhood to assess housing and land status for future urban planning and regularization.
