Regional Rail expands North American network with Massachusetts acquisitions

Regional Rail, a U.S.-based freight rail operator, announced the purchase of Massachusetts Central Railroad and Wildwood Reload. The acquisitions add a 28‑mile freight line in Massachusetts and raise the company’s owned freight routes to 18, extending its presence across North America.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) completed a scheduled overhaul of the Red Line between Alewife and Park Street. Over a ten‑day period (July 21‑30), thousands of feet of rail and aging track slabs were replaced, restoring the line to normal service ahead of schedule.
