Regional railway lines celebrate major anniversaries in Slovakia and Czechia

Regional railway milestones are being celebrated in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. In Prievidza, Slovakia, the locomotive depot is opening its doors to mark the 130th anniversary of the Upper Nitra railway line. The event, organized in conjunction with Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK) and Železničná spoločnosť Cargo Slovakia, features locomotive displays, model railway exhibitions, and tours of the driver's station.

In the Czech Republic, the local railway line known as ‘Liteňka,’ which runs from Zadní Třebaně to Lochovice, is celebrating 125 years of service. The 26.5-kilometer single-track line began regular operations in 1901 following an intensive year of construction. Managed by Správa železnic, the line is noted for its scenic views of the Brdy mountains and its technical feature, the Liteň reversal station.
