Regional reforestation initiatives launched in Argentina and Peru
Various regional environmental initiatives are underway to combat climate change through reforestation and education. In Rancul, La Pampa, the provincial government implemented a reforestation strategy at Escuela N° 234 “Ministro Jorge Agustín Picca”. The program, organized by multiple ministries including Education and Environment, involved diagnosing existing tree conditions, planting new specimens, and providing training to ensure long-term care and institutional resilience.
In the Gregorio Albarracín district of Peru, the volunteer group ASEZ, in coordination with the local municipality, organized a planting event involving 150 trees. The initiative brings together university students and volunteers from Tacna, Moquegua, and Ilo to promote environmental awareness and urban oxygenation. Organizers emphasized that the goal extends beyond planting to the active conservation and maintenance of the new trees to mitigate environmental crises.
