Regional Rural Banks record record ₹10,176 crore profit in FY26

India's Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) achieved a record financial performance in fiscal year 2025-26, with net profits rising to ₹10,176 crore, up from ₹6,820 crore in the previous fiscal year.

According to an official statement from the Department of Financial Services, the banks also saw significant improvements in asset quality. The Gross Non-Performing Asset (GNPA) ratio dropped to a record low of 5.3%, while the Net Non-Performing Asset (NNPA) ratio fell to 2.1%.

The 28 RRBs currently operate 22,273 branches across 26 states and 3 union territories, covering approximately 700 districts. The total business turnover for these banks has exceeded ₹13.5 lakh crore. Additionally, the credit-deposit ratio reached an all-time high of 75.2%, indicating more effective distribution of deposits as loans to support the rural economy.
