Regional security and grid needs impact electricity projects in Iraq and Tunisia

The electricity interconnection project between Iraq and Kuwait has been suspended by the Kuwaiti side due to regional security conditions. Although the project is 96% complete, the halt prevents the supply of 500 megawatts to southern Iraq, a move intended to diversify energy sources and reduce Iraq's reliance on Iranian imports.

In Tunisia, the Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas (STEG) announced potential periodic power outages across various regions on Monday. These interruptions, lasting up to two hours at a time, are necessary to maintain grid balance between production and consumption. Affected areas include Greater Tunis, the Sahel, the South, and several northern and central regions.
