Regional social initiatives focus on indigenous rights, disability inclusion, and agroecology

In Venezuela, indigenous communities in Apure are organizing to update the leadership of Communal Councils. An inter-institutional meeting at the Indio Alegre Center established a schedule to renew representatives across three priority geographic axes in the Rómulo Gallegos municipality: Capanaparo, Riecito, and Cinaruco. The initiative involves several state agencies, including the Ministry of Popular Power for Indigenous Peoples, to ensure community management aligns with ancestral governance and traditional customs.

In Copiapó, Chile, the Municipal Disability Office organized an inclusive family encounter to promote diversity and support for people with disabilities. The event included students from local schools and featured sensory spaces, accessible games, and professional services. Local authorities highlighted ongoing efforts to provide concrete support, such as ADOS-2 testing for the evaluation of children and adolescents.

In Argentina, the Mesa Agroalimentaria Argentina (MAA), in collaboration with Clacso and the Agroecology Fund, has launched an open online course titled ‘There is no agroecological transition without territorial organization’. The four-module program provides asynchronous training on agroecology, land rights, and public policy, aiming to bridge the gap between grassroots peasant-indigenous knowledge and academic sectors.
