Regional sovereignty disputes and foreign interference concerns in Nicaragua and Argentina

In Nicaragua, Vice President Rosario Murillo has reaffirmed the nation's sovereignty, rejecting foreign interference and criticizing what she termed “media terrorism” intended to misrepresent the country's reality. Murillo expressed gratitude toward China for its stance on the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations and acknowledged China's support for various development initiatives in Nicaragua, including health, education, and infrastructure projects.

In Argentina, Deputy Aldo Leiva, a former combatant, has issued a warning regarding President Javier Milei's proposed plan for the Falkland Islands (Malvinas). Leiva stated that while peaceful and diplomatic steps toward sovereignty are welcome, the islands must not become “currency of exchange between Donald Trump and the United Kingdom.” He cautioned that the sudden interest from the United States may be driven by geopolitical, military, and energy interests in the South Atlantic rather than the legitimacy of Argentina's claim. Leiva emphasized that true sovereignty requires strengthening the armed forces and maintaining an independent foreign policy.
