Regional sports clubs target league promotions and youth development

Various regional sports organizations are preparing for upcoming seasons with goals of promotion and talent development.

In Austria, a sports club aims to promote its first men's Landesliga team to the 2. Bundesliga for the 2026/27 season. The team, largely composed of U20 players, seeks to secure promotion either as Vienna vice-champions or through relegation playoffs. Sporting director Aleksandar Jovanovic noted that this move is intended to close the gap between the 1. Landesliga and the 1. Bundesliga to support youth development. A second women's team also aims for promotion to the second highest division in the following season.

In Germany, the TV Langen second men's basketball team is entering the 2026/27 season with ambitions to compete at the top of the 2. Regionalliga. Led by captain Niklas Butz, the team focuses on maintaining a consistent roster while integrating younger talents such as Nicolas Neeb, Vadim Maisel, and Maxim Meister.
