Italian athletes secure victories in regional fencing and mountain racing

Various regional and national sporting competitions took place across Italy during late September 2026.

In Orvieto, Simone Faggioli won the 53rd Cronoscalata della Castellana, a mountain speed racing event. Driving a Nova Proto NP01, Faggioli secured the victory in both race heats, marking his fifth consecutive win in this event. Stefano Di Fulvio finished second, and Samuele Cassibba took third.

Fencing competitions saw significant activity in several regions. In Lamezia Terme, Club Scherma Cosenza dominated the men’s épée, with Edoardo Mingrone taking first place and his teammates occupying the second and third spots on the podium. In Ancona, Mattia Pedone of Club Scherma Pesaro won the men’s absolute épée. Meanwhile, the Lame Azzurre club in Brindisi achieved multiple podiums, with Lorenzo Gallorini winning the men’s event and Carola Calogiuri winning the women’s.

In figure skating, Martina Maria Mazza of the HC Aosta Figure Skating Academy won both the short and long programs in the Advance Novice Girls category at the Italian Elite Championship in Bolzano.
