Regional sports developments in Portalegre and Évora

The Portalegre Football Association (AFP) is preparing for the 2026/2027 season, which Daniel Pina, president of the AFP, expects to be highly competitive. A significant structural change has been implemented: the district senior football champion will now promote directly to the 3rd Division, a move intended to align district football with national models. The football season begins with the Taça de Honra on October 4, followed by the District Championship on November 15. The senior men's futsal championship is scheduled to start on October 3.

In Évora, the inauguration of the new headquarters for the Portuguese Parachuting Federation is viewed as a strategic boost for the region. Jerónimo José, vice-president of the Évora Municipal Council, stated that the presence of the national federation could drive tourism, hospitality, and catering sectors. He noted that Évora has a historical connection to aeronautical activities dating back to the founding of the Évora Aeroclub in 1938, and that the federation's presence will enhance the city's profile as a hub for sports and training.
