Regional sports games launch in Guangxi and Guangdong
Major regional sporting events are commencing in southern China, emphasizing the integration of able-bodied and para-athletes.
In Guangxi, the cultural identifiers for the 16th Regional Games and the 11th Para-Games, along with the 6th Special Olympics, were officially unveiled in Beihai. The event features the emblem "Exceed," mascots "Bubu" and "Zhuzhu," and the theme song "Creating Brilliance," which incorporates local elements like mangroves and Beibu Gulf landscapes. The games are scheduled to be held in Beihai this December.
In Guangdong, the 17th Provincial Games and the 10th Para-Games opened in Maoming. The opening ceremony highlighted the region's cultural history and modern development. A key feature of this year's games is the unified branding for both able-bodied and para-sports, with athletes entering the venue together. The competition includes 34 major events for the competitive sports group and 10 for the mass sports group, with participation expected to reach approximately 25,000 people across various cities in Guangdong.
