Regional sports preparations for football and orienteering seasons

Various regional sports organizations are preparing for upcoming seasons.

In Germany, the FC Donop-Voßheide women's football team is preparing for the 2026/27 season following a successful year where they finished as runners-up and received a fair-play award. The squad has integrated several youth players from the JSG Diestelbruch/Mosebeck and appointed Jan Runte as the women's sporting director. The team recently held a training camp in Barsinghausen and played a 4-4 friendly match against Hövelhofer SV.

In Switzerland, preparations are underway for the 15th season of the Öpfel-Trophy orienteering series. Following a previous season with over 8,000 participants, the upcoming series will feature consolidated locations primarily in western and southern Thurgau. The organizers are also promoting the 'Bummler' category for recreational runners, family-friendly routes, and specific events such as the OFF! series and the Easter Bunny Orienteering run.
