Regional sports programs launch talent scouting in Venezuela and Mexico

Regional sports authorities in Venezuela and Mexico have launched initiatives to identify and develop young athletic talent.

In the Simón Rodríguez municipality of El Tigre, Venezuela, the Municipal Institute of Sport and Recreation has begun a talent scouting program across nine pilot schools. Part of the ‘Nuestros Futuros Olímpicos’ regional plan, the initiative targets students aged 9 to 16. The first phase focuses on athletics, using technical and biomechanical assessments—including anthropometric measurements and tests for speed, resistance, and flexibility—to select athletes for municipal festivals and school games. The program aims to transition students from basic education into high-performance disciplines such as weightlifting, gymnastics, swimming, and combat sports.

In Tamaulipas, Mexico, the Tamaulipas Sports Institute is conducting tryouts for team sports to form state selections. These evaluations are designed to identify athletes capable of representing the state in national competitions, specifically the CONADE Nationals. The process includes talent detection, monitoring, training camps, and classification competitions to strengthen the state's competitive standing.
