Regional swimming updates in Blomberg and Gelnhausen

The 2026 outdoor swimming season in Blomberg concluded with approximately 30,000 visitors, surpassing previous years due to favorable summer weather. Jörg Mengedoht, team leader at Blomberger Versorgungsbetriebe, noted a high number of first-time visitors and a significant presence of guests from the Netherlands, maintaining historical ties to the former NATO location. While the season was reported as peaceful, staff expressed concerns regarding parents being distracted by smartphones and a perceived decline in parental supervision.

In Gelnhausen, the indoor pool season for 2026/27 is set to begin on September 15. However, the facility and sauna will be closed to the public on September 19 and 20 to host a national youth swimming team competition. Organized by the Gelnhausen Swimming Club on behalf of the Hessian Swimming Association, the event is expected to draw over 400 young swimmers competing in various age categories.
