Regional Swiss forums address housing and decision-making
Regional forums in Switzerland recently addressed key social and economic challenges. In the Sursee-Mittelland region, the Commission for Society & Living Together held a practice forum in Neuenkirch focused on the strained housing market. Discussions centered on regional action plans and best practices for securing affordable housing, including measures within construction zone regulations.
Prof. Dr. Peter Schwehr from Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts presented on the necessity of affordable living, suggesting that housing construction should not be left solely to the free market. He emphasized that smaller living spaces and more efficient construction should provide added value to individuals rather than being viewed merely as a sacrifice.
In Sarnen, the 17th Unterwalden Economic Forum brought together approximately 350 business and political leaders under the theme ‘Deciding’. The event featured speakers such as Sulzer CEO Dr. Suzanne Thoma, who discussed managing complexity and uncertainty in global competition, FIFA referee Sandro Schärer, who addressed decision-making under pressure, and decision architect Reto Blum, who explored how unconscious thought patterns influence human choices.
