Regional theatre festivals report successful summer seasons in Slovakia and Czechia

Regional theatre organizations in Slovakia and the Czech Republic have reported successful summer programming. In Rožňava, Divadlo Actores completed a summer drama camp for children, which concluded with a final performance for parents. The theatre is also currently rehearsing a new production of Jules Verne’s ‘Around the World in 80 Days’, scheduled to premiere on October 30, 2026. Additionally, the troupe represented the Gemer region at the Theatre Games Timișoara 2026 international meeting in Romania.

In Olomouc, the eleventh edition of the |nejen| Shakespeare Summer festival achieved record-breaking attendance. Hosted by Divadlo Tramtarie, the festival drew 5,050 spectators, its highest number to date. This year marked a significant transition as the event moved from its long-term location at the UP Art Centre to the larger Summer Cinema venue, offering improved seating and visibility. The program featured 14 performances, including popular cabaret shows and various comedies.
