Regional tourism initiatives expand in Brazil
Various Brazilian municipalities are leveraging local heritage and rural traditions to boost tourism. In Alagoinha, Paraíba, the Raízes do Brejo Cultural Route will host its third stage from October 29 to November 1, 2026. The event, themed “Nossa Terra, Nossa Gente,” features music, gastronomy, and rural tourism, highlighting local attractions such as the Engenho São Pedro and the Vila do Forró.
In Santa Catarina, the municipality of São José do Cerrito is focusing on its archaeological heritage to attract visitors. The region contains underground houses built by ancient indigenous populations, including ancestors of the Kaingang and Xokleng peoples. At the Fazenda Senhor do Bom Fim, approximately 130 of these archaeological structures have been recorded, offering significant historical and scientific value for archaeological and educational tourism.
