Regional tourism initiatives focus on identity and safety
In San José, Argentina, the Secretariat of Tourism has launched ‘Formar Turismo’, a training cycle designed to enhance regional tourism through identity and local heritage. The inaugural session focused on creating tourism experiences based on local history, landscapes, and customs, using examples such as converting old country stores into authentic tourist spaces.
In Las Palmas, Spain, the II Safe Tourism Conference was held at the Elder Museum of Science and Technology. José Manuel Sanabria, Vice-Counselor of Tourism for the Government of the Canary Islands, noted that safety is the second most important factor for tourists choosing the archipelago after climate. The event included discussions on cybersecurity in the tourism industry and the use of the ONRED online reporting channel to assist victims of technological crimes.
