Regional tourism initiatives launched in Arica and Falcón

Regional authorities and private sectors in Arica, Chile, and Falcón, Venezuela, are implementing strategic initiatives to bolster local tourism through public-private collaboration.

In Arica, Mayor Orlando Vargas Pizarro led the ninth Communal Tourism Table. The meeting included representatives from CORFO, the University of Tarapacá, and the Ministry of Economy. Key projects discussed include the ‘Maestros del Morro’ culinary route, the ‘Sesiones de Patio’ creative territory program, and cultural festivals such as the Afro-descendant Drums Festival. Additionally, plans are underway for a cultural and commercial exchange event involving Arica, Bolivia, and Peru.

In Falcón, Vicky Herrera, president of the Superior Tourism Council (Conseturismo), emphasized the state's significant potential for high-quality tourism. During the installation of the Regional Economy Council, Herrera stressed that sustainable growth requires structural improvements and the professionalization of human talent. She noted that strategic planning must focus on improving basic services and training personnel to ensure the region can effectively host an increasing number of visitors.
