Regional tourism updates in Peru and Argentina
In Peru, the Autoridad Regional Ambiental (ARA) has identified tourist use areas and vulnerability risks across 36 prioritized sites in the Alto Mayo destination of San Martín. This territorial information is intended to improve planning, management, and sustainability within the sector while guiding future investment. The study, part of the Ecological and Economic Meso-Zoning of San Martín, establishes spatial boundaries for current tourist activities to assist in regional governance.
In Argentina, Mendoza has updated its provincial regulations for the classification and registration of tourist accommodations through Resolution 378. The new framework, developed with support from hotel associations, adapts to modern service and technology standards. While the star system continues for hotels and boutique hotels, cabins will now be categorized as Standard or Superior, and other types like glamping and hostels are classified as non-categorizable accommodations.
Additionally, municipalities from La Pampa participated in the 30th International Tourism Fair (FIT) in Buenos Aires. The provincial government provided a collective stand for over 50 municipalities and 20 private providers to promote regional identity and emerging destinations to national and international visitors.
